Project Description:
This project focused on creating an album cover, album insert, and the album’s sides. The album itself is made-up and the challenge of the project was to create a fake but realistic looking album that fit the aesthetic and tone of the artist. This also meant creating fake promotional art for the album that could be posted onto social media sites. The illustrations feature both digital and traditional work.
Process:
The overall style of this album was inspired by old Jazz albums from the 60s, which was something that I thought sounded close to the emotions and tone of King Krule's music.
Process:
These are all the pages of inserts made for the album that contain real lyrics from King Krule. Since the cover dealt with traditional media, I thought it would be visually cohesive if I included watercolor stains and paper texture. The type was kept to a combination of a serif and sans serif in order to have a balance. This was also meant to create emphasis on the cursive handwritten song names throughout the album material. These posts are meant to refer back to the original album layout, but also focus in on the individual parts of what makes the album special. I chose to focus on specific motifs in these illustrations.
